The online life of bfenthusiasts began with a small Yahoo! Club in 2000 with just a handful of members. Over nearly 10 years we've developed into the online community you see today.
In 2001 we underwent our first major upgrade, adding a dedicated website with information on the ships, routes and the latest news. The discussion board was upgraded allowing more people to join the community. The construction of the mv Mont St Michel was closely followed and on the 27th June 2003 we stepped out of the online world to host our first onboard event.
In 2004 the community had grown so much we relaunched as 'bfenthusiasts' and moved to our own dedicated discussion boards, having outgrown our free host. Since then, we've grown exponentially, adding new features such as an online gallery where our 2000+ members can upload and share their photos. We've also hosted more events afloat, from an afternoon trip to Cherbourg to a 3 day mini-cruise to Spain. Even when we're not running official events, it's almost guaranteed that any significant crossing will be patronised by BFE members!
In 2009, the site recieved a major upgrade both in terms of design and the technology running the site, bringing you the dynamic online presence you see today.
Since the start, BFE has been run for free by a group of volunteers from a variety of backgrounds, who donate their time and expertise into running the site. The site is funded by commission earned when members use our 'book online' link to book direct with Brittany Ferries at no extra cost to themselves - allowing us to keep the site ad-free.
We hope you enjoy using our site and forums - and if you're not already a member, why not register today!
