Running BFE is not small challenge. It involves updating web content, forum moderation, managing costs, maintaining web applications and guarding against security threats. And that's just the big stuff, not starting on copyright and legal issues that crop up from time to time. However, we have a small but efficient team who volunteer their time to make BFE what it is. They are introduced below.
The first and founding member of BFE, Andy started the community with a Yahoo! Group back in 2000. An avid traveller Andy rarely stays in one place for long, sailing around the world, with his passion for the sea and all things related. Visit Andy's profile.
Jim joined BFE in 2003, when he lived on the seafront in Portsmouth. He likes to know how things work, and before long started wondering about all the ships floating past his window. A frequent traveller for his job and just for fun, he rarely sits still and is usually planning where to go next - the other BFE Staff have learned that when Jim invites you for a pint, you can never be sure which country it'll be in! Along with Elliot, Jim forms part of our technical team who keep things running, and shout at Andy and Phil when they break things. Visit Jim's profile.
Phil joined in 2003. He's no stranger to the travel industry as he helps millions of people a year travel in and out of London on the railways. When he's not trying to explain why your train's been cancelled, he can often be found getting away from it all on the high seas or travelling the length of the country on steam trains. Phil uses his extensive knowledge to answer many queries whether they be on our forums or our e-mail inbox. Visit Phil K's profile.
Elliot joined the team in 2004 shortly after finding BFE. He is not really a ferry enthusiast, but is an enthusiastic traveller and knows travel well. His position in the BFE Staff team is a technical and administrative one, providing support for running and maintaining the behind the scenes services. Elliot works as an aircraft systems architect to pay for his photography, travel, cooking and expensive taste in computers. Visit Elliot's profile.
