mv ARMORIQUE
It was announced on the 23rd December 2005 that Brittany Ferries had signed a letter of intent with Aker Finnyards for the construction of a 110 million Euro ro-ro ferry code named 'Bretagne 2' for operation between Plymouth and Roscoff from Autumn 2008. The new vessel is a near sister ship to Cotentin also under construction at Aker Finnyards.
She will carry 1,500 passengers and have a garage capacity of 1.1km lane meters

Aker Yards and the French company Brittany Ferries have signed a Letter of Intent for the building of a roro-passenger ferry worth approximately 105-110 million euro for delivery in October 2008 at the latest. The present order book of Aker Yards includes another order from Brittany Ferries, i.e. a trailer ropax worth EUR 80 million to be delivered in autumn 2007. The option agreement signed for a similar vessel on the 2nd of August 2005 has been transferred to this LOI for a different type of vessel.

The Letter of Intent signed now would give some 700 man years of work for the yard. The ferry is designed to carry passengers, private cars and road cargo vehicles between France and the United Kingdom at a speed of 23 knots. The 167 m long and 26.8 m wide vessel would have space for 1,500 passengers and 1.1 kilometres of vehicle deck space.
The new type of ferry has been developed in a close co-operation between the Owner and the yard.

New £81 Million Brittany Ferries Cruise Ferry To Be Named 'mv Armorique'
December 2006, Brittany Ferries

The new ship on order from the Aker shipyard in Helsinki is to be called "Armorique" after the national park of outstanding beauty in western Brittany. This is not the first ferry in the Brittany Ferries fleet to bear this name: the previous Armorique operated from 1975 to 1992. The new £81 million vessel will be used solely on the Plymouth-Roscoff route replacing
Pont l'Abbé, currently on short-term charter, in the autumn of 2008.

David Longden, Managing Director, comments: "Armorique is being designed specifically
for the Plymouth-Roscoff route and will provide new levels of comfort for our passengers.
It is part of our ongoing plan to become not only the most modern, but the most comfortable fleet on the channel."
