In a surprise move, it was announced on 17th December 2009 that Brittany Ferries had purchased the 'Superfast V' from the Attica Group (Superfast/Blue Star Ferries) for €81.5 million to expand Spanish services. The vessel, which formerly operated sailings from Patras and Ancona in the Adriatic sea was delivered to Brittany Ferries under her new name in February 2010. She conducted berthing trials in Cherbourg and Portsmouth before heading for work to be completed in Dunkerque prior to entering service.
NEWS: It was revealed on the 24th September 2010 that the Cap Finistère would launch a new Brittany Ferries route between Portsmouth and Bilbao from 27th March 2011, following P&O Ferries withdrawal from the route. More info here.

The naming cermony took place in Cherbourg on 22nd March 2010 before she entered service on the 23.45 service to Portsmouth, arriving for the first time in her new colours shortly after 09.00 on 23rd March. During 2010 the vessel operated 2 sailings to Santander and 3 to Cherbourg. In February 2011 the Cap Finistère sailed to Gdansk (Poland) to undergo a refit prior to launching Brittany Ferries new route between Portsmouth & Bilbao on the 27th March, taking over from P&O Ferries who closed the route on the 27th September 2010. Cap Finistère will offer two sailings to Bilbao and one to Santander per week during 2011.
The Cap Finistère is the longest vessel in the fleet with a length of 203.90 metres, with capacity for 1600 passengers and 712 cars. However a lower capacity limit will be used in line with the available cabin berths, of 790 passengers.
