Widely acknowledged as Brittany Ferries' passengers favourite route to France, this is the 'Blue Riband' route. The longest Channel crossing to France passes by the Cherbourg peninsular and through the Channel Islands before heading down towards the Breton port. The faithful Bretagne operates on the route, with an average sailing time of 8¾hrs hours. During the winter months Brittany Ferries flagship, Pont-Aven, operates to St Malo.
The port of Saint Malo is subject to very large tidal variations which may lead to a slight change in arrival and departure times. This will be indicated on your ticket if it is applicable to your crossing.
In 2008 403,000 passengers travelled between Portsmouth and St Malo.
